It started with "PANAGTAGPO", an opening ceremony headed by Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte and with our 10 Tribes showcasing a colorful and culture through music and dance last August 9,2013 happened at People's Park Great Lawn.

The best way to describe DAVAO CITY besides DURIAN and WALING-WALING is the CULTURES, BELIEFS and TRADITIONS that we have here starting from ARTS, CRAFTS and DANCES. All of these things simply affect DABAWENYOS think about and how they live their lives everyday make it in a social and cultural behavior. How we shape, who we are, and what we do.
That is why SM CITY Davao come to an event to organize "SAYAW MINDANAO" depicting the lives of our Indigenous People by portraying it into a dance. An Indigenous-Inspired Dance Competition which have two categories; the OPEN CATEGORY and CHILDREN CATEGORY.
Last August 14, Elimination Night was held at SM Annex-Ecoland. For many competing contingents, few are chosen.

Having been blessed with so much grace and good fortune, we also have to consider the beautiful young lass from our 10 different tribes showcasing their cultural skill, "HIYAS NG KADAYAWAN" (August 16, Friday, 7PM at Davao Recreation Center) which search the most talented and witty young women representing their tribes.

A street dancing competition with so many contingents coming from different places, divided the competition to two categories: OPEN and DAVAO BASED Category
